"There is still such a shock factor in society with condoms when it comes to safe sex conversations and education, so I want to help normalize it with my runway looks. "
Kirsten finds inspiration in music, runway shows, and eccentric personalities within the art and fashion sphere. Her designs pay homage to some of the world’s most beloved fashion icons: Grace Jones, Alexander McQueen, and Lady Gaga. Utilizing her 10+ years of experience in the fashion industry, she is now focused on sustainable design, styling and accessible tailoring for the Atlanta community through her brand, /vksb.
"I grew up watching my mom sew dresses and Halloween costumes for me, so I started creating after that. My grandma is also a huge influence. She had me in clip-on earrings, costume jewelry, and blush by the time I could walk. They taught me to express myself without limits, in design and in life. "
She knows firsthand what it’s like to rely on Planned Parenthood for affordable healthcare, and is a firm believer in services like testing for all. Supporting Planned Parenthood by creating a look for Condom Couture ATL this year is a chance for Kirsten to promote body and sex positivity, intersectional feminism, and rights for LGBTQIA+ and sex workers. Like her icons, Kirsten believes everyone should have agency over their bodies, fundamental human rights, and access to healthcare.
"Planned Parenthood has been helping people like me, my friends, and my loved ones for as long as I can remember. Helping them is a realistic way I can continue to make a difference by ensuring that they continue to help others."
